Demand Sport provides Digital Media insights to the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU)
Luke Reinehr, CEO of Demand Sport, was invited to present to members at the ABU Sports Broadcasting Conference held over the 6th and 7th June, 2007 in the Republic of Maldives.
The 40th ABU Sports Group Conference was convened by ABU Sports Group Chairman Les Murray to discuss diverse topics related to the broadcasting business in Sports, including the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Asian Football Cup and the development of digital media and the impact it has on sports broadcasters.
Insights Luke provided to the ABU included the growing consumption on online video and trailing advertising revenues; rapid growth in the mobile phone video services led by early adoption in many Asian countries; the power of growing online audiences and communities; undervalued online assets; threats and his thoughts on the future.
Demand Sport presents at the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) General Assembly
GAISF is the governing body for approximately 140 sports associations around the world (e.g. soccer - FIFA, cricket - ICC, FIBA – basketball, etc) and fulfils a powerful role in international sport.
The General Assembly is the supreme governing body of GAISF and meets once a year. The General Assembly is part of the International Sports Convention, which is organised by GAISF in partnership with the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) and the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF).
This year, the General Assembly was held in Beijing on 27 April 2007 as a prelude to the 2008 Olympics, and the Company’s CEO was asked to give the Key Note address titled “GAISF and Digital Media”. The theme of the address was to explore the opportunity that Digital Media provides to smaller niche sporting associations to participate in online channels.
